the Bikes.
A few of the bicycle shots from New Orleans. Couldn't resist the personality that just came through in every single one.

Pictures of babies don't have to be gross.
I had the great honor of photographing a lovely little girl named Ella. Despite being a little taken aback at her first experience with wind, she was quite the little trooper.

Nashville Fireworks - 2010
Jon was nice enough to let me use the 70 - 200mm lens for this shoot. Compared to our first attempt at photographing the show two years ago, this is a massive improvement.

Sr. Casagrande
We recently received the distinct honor and pleasure of being allowed a few minutes to document a typical day in the life of distinguished and venerable Sr. Casagrande. What a thrill just to be in his presence. As displayed here, he is clearly quite photogenic. Though this was our first venture into celebrity photography, we were pleased with the results.

Hotel Riu Vallarta
These are some images from my recent stay in Puerto Vallarta. The resort was beautiful and the staff very friendly. I was glad we were able to shoot it at night. It's very Art Deco, complete with a collection of Gustav Klimt paintings.
These pictures of the Hotel Riu Vallarta in Nuevo Vallarta were taken in March, 2010. I would recommend it to anyone.

San Sebastian - Mexico
Recently the Mrs. and I took a trip south and visited an old mining town called San Sebastian in Mexico. We ate a traditional Mexican meal, I skipped the mole, and got some of the best darn coffee I have ever had. Ever. If you go down there, let me know. I'm going to need at least 57 lbs of the stuff....
You can see more on our new Zenfolio site: thatverynextthing.zenfolio.com, or, as always...
Thanks for checking out our very very tourist photos of San Sebastian, Mexico.

More genius wedding photography
There are so many good pictures, it's hard to choose which to post. So here is another slideshow, and I'm not going to promise that it's the last one. Again, all thanks goes to Tennessee-based wedding photographer Shea Halliburton.
Thanks for looking.

Our Wedding - Smith-Trahern Mansion
We are very excited to finally be able to present some of the pictures from our wedding. All of these photos were taken by Shea Halliburton. Shea took great pictures and was a lot of fun to work with. We had the pleasure of editing all of them, but it is a much easier process when the photographer gives you so much to work with. You can see more of her work at byshea.com.
Here is the first in a series of slideshows.

Rock City - Fairyland Caverns
As part of our Chattanooga honeymoon / flu-a-thon, we decided to brave the cold and visit Rock City. Favorite part? Fairyland Caverns. Ok, that's the only part that's not out in the cold, but you can't find this stuff just anywhere either. For those unfamiliar with this land of fairy magic, Fairyland Caverns is a series of caves filled with blacklights and painted statues depicting childhood stories. Sounds nice? Judge for yourself.
As photography goes, this was tricky. To get anything at all, I had to go ISO 1600 and use my 50mm prime at f-1.4. That gave me the minimal depth of field I was looking for, and enough light to capture the scene. It was challenging to nail the focus on the intended subject while framing it the way I wanted. For example, I wanted to focus on the Farmer's Wife, with the Three Blind Mice out of focus in the foreground. Luckily, it is a very magical place, which I think helped a lot.
PS: The last image is of the dinner table at the home of Jack Sprat. You're welcome for that one.
